Anuj Patel, MD

Anuj Patel, M.D., is a board eligible orthopedic surgeon, fellowship trained spine surgery. Dr. Patel specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery (MIS) techniques that allow for less post-operative pain, decreased soft tissue injury, less blood loss, and faster recovery times. He treats all spinal conditions of the neck and back including degenerative, traumatic, oncologic, and deformity conditions. Dr. Patel also treats pediatric orthopedic spine, including scoliosis.
Dr. Patel performs all spinal surgeries including anterior and posterior cervical decompression and fusion, cervical disc replacement, cervical laminoplasty, lumbar microdiscectomy and laminectomy, and thoracic and lumbar anterior, lateral, and posterior fusion, all through minimally invasive approaches.
Dr. Anuj Patel completed his fellowship training in 2019 including a surgery of the spine fellowship at the Harvard University Combined Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Boston, Massachusetts. Additionally, he holds a specialized sub-fellowship in minimally invasive techniques from the Microendoscopic Spine Institute, in Boston, MA, where he focused on endoscopic spine procedures. Dr. Patel completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Emory University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Atlanta, Georgia in 2018 where he was elected chief resident of his residency program. Dr. Patel received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama in 2013, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University, in Washington, D.C. in 2009 with ACS Accreditation in Biology.

Steven E. Blackwood, M.D. is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon in the subspecialty of foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Blackwood offers comprehensive treatment of a variety of foot and ankle conditions including sports injuries, post-traumatic deformity, acute fractures, tendinopathy, chronic degenerative disease, and acquired toe deformity. He is experienced in fracture care, general orthopedics, ankle arthroscopy, cartilage preservation and restoration, complex deformity correction, ligament and tendon repair and reconstruction, ankle replacement, and fusions of the ankle and midfoot. Dr. Blackwood also specializes in the treatment of common foot and ankle disorders including bunions, hammer toes, Morton’s neuromas, plantar fasciitis, and Achilles tendinitis.
Dr. Blackwood is from Roswell, GA and graduated with the highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He completed his medical training at the Georgia Health Sciences University in Augusta and completed residency in orthopedic surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He went on to complete a foot and ankle fellowship at Grand Rapids Orthopedic Associates in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
During Dr. Blackwood’s time at Georgia Tech he played collegiate baseball and is the only four year letterman to be named Mr. Georgia Tech. In 2018, he was inducted into the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame. He was also drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2005 MLB draft. Most recently, Dr. Blackwood served as the Team Physician at the University of Mississippi and Lafayette High School in Oxford, MS.
